Community OutreachThe Boca Raton Community Hospital Outreach Program was established to promote philanthropy and build strong relationships in support of BRCH's mission: To provide quality healthcare to the community it serves. Recognizing the importance of reaching out to the community and continuing the tradition of providing quality healthcare, the BRCH Board of Trustees launched the Community Outreach Program in July, 1998. Many of the approved programs fill local unmet needs and give Boca Raton Community Hospital a significant way to become a collaborative partner, working with others to build a strong, healthy, and productive community. The following programs and partnerships exemplify the BRCH way of 'reaching out and giving back to the community': The Boca Raton Community Hospital Outreach Program was established to promote philanthropy and build strong relationships in support of BRCH's mission: To provide quality healthcare to the community it serves. As a result, BRCH established a School Social Worker Pilot Program. Presently BRCH has one school social worker housed at a middle school where she serves approximately 300 students. She provides direct services and referrals to help improve the emotional and social health of the students and their families. Currently the school social worker has started a transition program for fifth graders at a local elementary school to prepare children for challenges of middle school and two groups of social skills training for eighth grade boys and girls at her school. Smart HeartPARTNERSHIP
The Smart Heart Program is an award winning partnership between Boca Raton Community Hospital and Boca Raton Fire-Rescue Services. The goal is to promote community health by providing programs aimed toward prevention, education, and screenings as a way to reduce health and safety risks for our community. The partnership efforts have grown to a variety of programs and services that serve all community members, such as free Blood Pressure and Cholesterol screenings which are offered annually on Valentine's Day and serve approximately 600 participants per year; CPR training programs; Children's Tours of the hospital; Home for the Holidays; Halloween Safety Outreach; Community Health Fairs; and various other Wellness and Safety Fairs. Funding was also obtained for the purchase of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for the City of Boca Raton fire and rescue vehicles, police patrol cars, marine patrol, and ten recreational areas in Boca Raton to assist those suffering from cardiac arrest until paramedics arrive on the scene.
